Reed Smith was named the Athletic Communications Assistant for softball and volleyball in August 2026.

Prior to his time with the Blue Raiders, Smith was a strategic communications intern with Villanova during the 2025-26 season, where he was the primary contact for softball and men's golf. During his time with the Wildcats, Smith assisted with men's and women's basketball in a landmark year which saw both teams reach the NCAA Div. I Tournament.

During the 2024-25 season, Smith was the athletic communications intern at North Texas, serving as the primary contact for a Mean Green women's tennis team which earned a bid to the 2025 UTR Women's Tennis NIT. Smith additionally assisted with softball, football and both basketball programs.

Before beginning his career in athletic communications, Smith spent five years as a journalist, covering UNT sports for 247Sports, the Denton Record-Chronicle and North Texas Daily. From 2020 to 2024, Smith had nearly 700 bylines to his name, becoming a familiar face in the Mean Green media scene.

Smith received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Texas in Broadcast and Digital Journalism in December 2024.
