Three games in three days on tap for the Blue Raiders
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee men's tennis will be back in action this weekend at the Conference USA Pod in Norfolk, Virginia, against Old Dominion, Charlotte and Florida Atlantic.
"This is the part of the season where it gets to be a grind, so we've tried to keep the fun factor out there in practice and have the guys continue to be excited about playing," MT assistant coach Daniel Leitner said. "Conference matches are always heated with a lot of emotions in them. We're looking forward to three competitive matches this weekend."
The Blue Raiders will kick off the weekend with a match against the host team, Old Dominion, Friday at 3 p.m.
The Monarchs took down the Blue Raiders last season in the semifinals of the C-USA Championship hosted by Rice last season. This year, the Monarchs jumped out to a 6-0 start before falling to No. 3 Ohio State at the ITA Kickoff Weekend. Old Dominion is currently 12-3 and has only one common opponent with the Blue Raiders this season. MT fell to Penn, 2-5, at the Adams Tennis Complex earlier this season, but the Monarchs won over the Quakers, 4-3.
MT's next match this weekend will be Saturday at Noon against Charlotte.
The 49ers enter the weekend with a 9-8 record, including a 4-2 mark in neutral site matches. Georgia State is the only common opponent between the Blue Raiders and 49ers, with the Panthers getting the win over both teams. MT's Tom Moonen was the lone Blue Raider to get a win over Georgia State in their Feb. 26 matchup, while the Panthers blanked Charlotte, 7-0, on March 17.
Florida Atlantic will be the Blue Raiders' final opponent of the weekend, as they'll square off Sunday at 10 a.m.
The Owls will travel to Norfolk with a 13-4 record, with all matches played inside the state of Florida. Both the Blue Raiders and Owls have defeated George Washington this season. MT won, 4-3, on Jan. 28 at the ATC, while Florida Atlantic won over the Colonials, 4-1, on March 14 to spark their current four-match win streak.

"This will be a good test because it's the same format as the conference tournament," Leitner added. "Coming down the stretch of the season, this weekend will be a good test for us."
