Middle Tennesee State University Athletics
Alumni Memorial Gym, located on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, is a historic facility that opened in 1950. The gym was built to honor nearly 40 MTSU students who lost their lives in World War II, and it contains a plaque bearing their names.
Originally home to the Blue Raider men’s and women’s basketball teams before the completion of Murphy Center, Alumni Memorial Gym is now the exclusive home of Blue Raider volleyball. The Middle Tennessee State University Volleyball program made its debut at the gym in 2002.
Before the 2002 season, the gym, nicknamed the AMG, received a new floor, and in 2003, a state-of-the-art volleyball scoreboard was installed. In 2004, Head Coach Matt Peck introduced floor seating to create an intimate and engaging experience for fans.
Alumni Memorial Gym hosted the 2005 Sun Belt Championships from Nov. 17-19, where the Blue Raiders faced off against rival Western Kentucky in the finals. The match, which drew a school-record crowd of 1,028, was televised on ESPN+—marking the first time a Sun Belt Championship final was broadcast on ESPN.
