MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The 28th-ranked Middle Tennessee Blue Raider men's tennis team will host North Carolina State Saturday at the Racquet Club at 1 p.m. in the squad's first match in 11 days.
The Blue Raiders stand 4-0 in the young season, including last week's 6-1 victory over Chattanooga. The squad already has posted a victory over one ranked opponent this season, current No. 24 Indiana State, and eight of the 11 remaining dual match opponents are ranked in this week's ITA national poll.
The squad is led by 12th-ranked Daniel Klemetz and 27th-rated Robert Gustafsson in singles, with No. 3 singles player Oliver Foreman ranked 102nd in the nation. The Blue Raiders also have three ranked doubles tandems, including the ninth-rated team in the land in Foreman and Gustafsson. Klemetz and Kirk Jackson are ranked 34th in the country, with Trevor Short and Michael Staniak rated 51st in the nation.
Foreman and Gustafsson and Klemetz and Jackson have won all six of their doubles matches this season, giving the Blue Raiders the doubles point in the last three matches. Klemetz has also remained undefeated in singles at 3-0 at the No. 1 position, upping his mark to 16-6 for the academic year.
Middle Tennessee takes on 54th-ranked Indiana Sunday at 10 a.m. The Blue Raiders then host 25th-rated Georgia Tech at noon on February 24.
