Andy Haines Added to Baseball Staff

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Middle Tennessee head baseball coach Steve Peterson announced this week the hiring of Andy Haines as the graduate assistant for the Blue Raiders for the 2002-03 season.
Haines has coached the past two seasons at Olney Central Junior College in Olney, Ill., instructing 14 players who have received Division I scholarships. He was an assistant coach this past summer for the Dubois County Dragons in the Independent Frontier League, with the team winning the division title and advancing to the playoffs.
He also spent previous summers as an assistant for the Twin-City Stars in Bloomington-Normal, Ill., in the Central Illinois Collegiate Summer League, as well as the Waterloo Bucks in Waterloo, Iowa, in the Northwoods Collegiate League. Haines earned Coach of the Year honors in the Northwoods League during the 2001 season.
Haines played collegiately at Eastern Illinois University in 1999-00, earning Honorable Mention All-OVC honors as a senior catcher for the Panthers. He earned a bachelor's from EIU in Physical Education/Sports Management with a minor in Community Health. Before attending EIU, the Louisville, Ill., native played at Olney Central for two seasons before spending one year at Kentucky Wesleyan University.
