MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- The Middle Tennessee soccer team travels to Lipscomb for a 7 p.m. match Tuesday, looking for its first win of the season after a pair of 1-0 defeats to start the season on the road this past weekend.
The Blue Raiders stand 0-2 to start the season for the first time since 1998, and the three-game road trip to begin the year is the longest in school history.
Lipscomb began the season with a 2-1 victory over Martin Methodist last Friday. Middle Tennessee defeated Lipscomb, 9-0, last season in Murfreesboro, as the Blue Raiders set school records for points, goals and assists in the match. Danielle LaDuke scored three times in the first half, and Laura Miguez had four assists in the match.
"We played much better Sunday than we did Friday, and we have to build on that as a team and get better," head coach Aston Rhoden said. "We missed some opportunities at Eastern Illinois, and if we can begin converting those chances into scores, the wins will come."
Middle Tennessee opens the home slate September 6 against Southern Miss at 4 p.m. at the Blue Raider Soccer Field, the first of nine home matches in the 2002 campaign.
