MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee softball will compete in the SEMO Classic Softball Tournament on Saturday March 8 and Sunday March 9 in Cape Giradeau, Missouri.
The Lady Raiders have had to dodge the raw and un-cooperative weather patterns that have plagued the area, and are looking for a dry and warm time at SEMO. Middle Tennessee was able to play five games this week and came out 3-2.
Overall the Lady Raiders are coming in strong in the games they have been able to put together. Senior Kip Phillips is taking her co-captain status to heart as she is leading by example. She has a .361 batting average, four RBI and is 6-of-7 in stolen bases.
Sophomore Dani DeCamino is proving to be a force on third as well as at the plate. She has a .333 batting average, has hit three doubles and plated eight RBI.
Senior hurler Stayc Preator leads Middle Tennessee, as she has a 3-2 record and a 2.84 ERA. She has thrown three complete games and has recorded 40 strikeouts.
Middle Tennessee opens the SEMO Classic with Drake University at 10 a.m. It is the first meeting between the two schools. The Lady Raiders close out day one with host Southeast Missouri at 12 p.m. and Lipscomb at 4 p.m.
