MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee defensive coordinator Bradley Dale Peveto has accepted a job on Les Miles staff at LSU. Peveto, who has been on Andy McCollum's staff for two years, will be the Tigers' special teams coach.
"LSU called and presented me with a great opportunity, but it was really tough because of all the great people I have met at Middle Tennessee," said Peveto. "I will miss this place and miss being associated with such a great staff. Andy gave me a great opportunity here and I will never forget it."
Peveto joined McCollum's staff in 2003 as secondary coach, and then was elevated to defensive coordinator last year. Under Peveto, the defense went from 90th in scoring defense in 2003 to 68th in 2004 and rushing defense improved from 77th in 2003 to 45th in 2004.
Peveto begins his new job immediately.
McCollum will begin looking for a replacement as soon as possible and will have someone in place before the start of spring practice, which begins on March 15.
