Women Host Troy Saturday

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee's 25th-ranked women's basketball team hosts Troy Saturday at 7 p.m. at Murphy Center, looking to extend an eight-game winning streak this season and a 23-game winning streak at home against Sun Belt competition.
The Blue Raiders (11-3, 3-0) end a five-game homestand against the Trojans. Middle Tennessee has not lost since November 26 with victories over eighth-ranked Georgia, Old Dominion and Western Kentucky during the stretch.
Troy enters Saturday's contest 8-6 overall and 1-3 in Sun Belt play after a 92-69 loss at Western Kentucky on Thursday. Amy Lewis leads four Trojans averaging in double figures with 15.9 points per game, while Kylie Morrissy scores 13.9 points and grabs a team-leading 8.5 rebounds per contest. Danielle Realph hits for 10.5 points and Valensia Hairston scores 10.1 points per outing. Troy averages just 63.2 points per game as a team and shoots a respectable 44 percent from the floor, but just 31 percent from 3-point range.
Middle Tennessee owns a perfect 3-0 mark against Troy
all-time and is 1-0 versus the Trojans in Sun Belt action after
a 91-60 victory last season in Murfreesboro. The Blue
Raiders are 2-0 at home against Troy, with the other triumph on December 11, 1992, 88-65, and stand 1-0 on the
road versus the Trojans after a 71-59 triumph on February
19, 1994. In last season's game Chrissy Givens scored
27 points, Johnna Abney hit six 3-pointers and netted 20
points and Tia Stovall chipped in with 10 points on January
21, 2006, at Murphy Center.
Next week Middle Tennessee hits the road for three games in a five-day stretch, starting Tuesday at Florida International. The Golden Panthers play at Louisiana-Lafayette Saturday and are tied atop the Eastern Division at 3-0 with the Blue Raiders.
