Sun Belt Classic deemed a sellout

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Officials at Middle Tennessee have announced Saturday's Sun Belt Classic at the Sommet Center is a sellout.
No. 2 Memphis (7-0) will face Middle Tennessee (3-5) in the opening game of the doubleheader at 6:05 p.m., on ESPN2, while No. 12 Tennessee (8-1) faces Western Kentucky (7-2) at 8:30 p.m. on ESPNU.
The game is considered a "home game" for Middle Tennessee so the Blue Raiders will be part of two new standards during the Classic. Capacity at the Sommet Center is 16,334 and the current record for a regular-season basketball game at the venue is 8,118, which was set when Tennessee played Oklahoma State there, Dec. 18, 2006.
Not only will the Sommet Center regular season attendance record be broken when the Blue Raiders face the Tigers, but the game will also set a new Middle Tennessee home attendance record, besting the mark of 11,807 vs. Western Kentucky, Feb. 26, 2004 in Kermit Davis' second season.
The Blue Raiders have enjoyed a 65 percent attendance increase in Davis' first five seasons and the last two seasons have generated the highest home attendance average in the last 15 seasons (4,275).
