MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee women's tennis snapped a four-match losing streak with a 7-0 win over Belmont on Tuesday.
The Blue Raiders (2-6) swept the doubles matches to win the point and take a 1-0 lead in the match. Junior
Marlene Chemin and sophomore
Pooja Kommireddi won their match 8-4 over the Bruins (1-3) Abby Leatherwood and Kelly Pence to begin the match.
Then to clinch the doubles point, senior
Ann-Kristin Siljestrom and sophomore
Elvira Yusupova teamed up to defeat Linda Johansson and Titiana Pozo 8-4. Rounding out doubles action, sophomore
Stephanie Parkison and freshman
Shannon Hartmann won their match 8-6 over Whitnie Warren and Katie Rhodes.
Yusupova kept the momentum going as she won her singles match 6-0, 6-2 over Lindsay Bennett. Siljestrom then defeated Warren 6-4, 6-2 to give the Blue Raiders a solid three-point lead.
Hartmann took her match 6-4, 6-2 over Pozo to clinch the match. Then Chemin defeated Rhodes 6-2, 6-4.
Finishing up action for Middle Tennessee were Parkison and Kommireddi who won their respective matches. Parkison defeated Johansson in a super tie-breaker 7-5, 46-, 10-5 while Kommireddi won 6-0, 6-2 over Pence.
