The signing class is comprised of guards Marcos Knight of Rentz, Ga., and Bruce Massey, from Germantown Md.
Knight, a sophomore at Chipola Junior College, played his freshman season at Middle Georgia before transferring. At Middle Georgia, Knight was named the GJCAA Player of the Year and received Player of the Week honors three times. The Rentz, Ga., native averaged 17.9 points, 10 rebounds and three steals per game. Knight chose Middle Tennessee over Oklahoma and other BCS Conference schools.
"I am very excited about having Marcos Knight join our program. He is one of best junior college guards in the country. He is powerful, about 6-3, 205 and can score. Marcos has unbelievable character and led his team at Middle Georgia to the national junior college tournament," Davis said. "He is a proven scorer and the biggest thing about him is the toughness that he brings and how he goes about his work every day. We think he is going to have a great year at Chipola and be a terrific player for us."
Massey played in 31 games as a freshman at Dodge City Community College leading the team in assists (195) and steals (122). He earned Honorable Mention honors in the KJCCC Western Conference and was second on the team in scoring averaging 11.7 points per game. Massey ended the season third in the country in steals per game with 3.9.
Massey had a season-high 10 steals in a 60-61 loss vs. Hutchinson CC (12/5/09) and a season-high 11 assists in an 82-66 win over Allen County (3/2/10). Massey chose Middle Tennessee over Creighton, Nebraska, and Western Kentucky just to name a few.
"We feel Bruce is one of the very best defenders in junior college basketball. He is 6-4, very long and competes extremely hard every possession. Bruce has won at every level, junior college and high school, and can handle the ball as well as run a team. Bruce is very unselfish in the open floor and his jump shot has improved tremendously," Davis said.
"Marcos and Bruce have both played for fantastic junior college coaches in Jake Headrick at Chipola and Brady Trenkel at Dodge City. Both of these guys will come in ready to play," Davis said.
