MT downed by Denver at ITA Kick-Off Weekend

COLUMBUS, Ohio - A singles victory for freshman Aaron Jumonville highlighted a Sunday morning match for the Middle Tennessee men's tennis team, as the No. 52 Blue Raiders fell to No. 57 Denver, 4-1, at Ohio State to conclude the ITA Kick-Off Weekend.
Jumonville defeated the Pioneers' Eric Marbach at No. 6 singles (6-1, 6-2). The Blue Raiders' other victory on the day came at No. 3 doubles, where junior Victor Hoang and Sam Matheson downed Marbach and Fabio Biasion, 6-2.
Denver took the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Henry Craig and Diogo Rocha knocked off No. 22 sophomores David Fox and Victor Cornea, 6-4, while Alex Gasson and Yannik James beat junior Yannick Born and Jumonville, 6-3.
At No. 1 singles, No. 98 Fox fell to No. 86 Craig (6-5, 6-5). Matheson was defeated by Alex Clinkenbeard at No. 4 (6-2, 6-4), while Hoang dropped a decision at No. 5 to James (2-6, 6-2, 6-2). The matches at No. 2 and No. 3 went unfinished.
The Blue Raiders return to action on Sunday, Feb. 2 when they square off with No. 18 South Carolina in Columbia, S.C., at 9 a.m. CT.
