HUNTINGTON, W.V. - Middle Tennessee secured a 1-0 road victory at Marshall on Sunday afternoon to improve to 7-7-2 overall and 4-3-1 in Conference USA action.
Angie Lai got on the end of a rebound to put the ball in the back of the net to put the Blue Raiders up 1-0 in the 19th minute of the match. Lai posted a strong weekend with two goals and an assist in the two matches. The goals was her third of the season and fifth of her career.
The goal by Lai would be the game-winner as MT was able to hold off the Thundering Herd for the remainder of the match.
Brouwer ended the match with seven saves in her sixth shutout of the season and 16th in her career.
The Blue Raiders have put themselves in good position in the C-USA standings with 13 points, which puts them in a tie for second. Middle Tennessee returns to action on Oct. 26 at Dean A. Hayes Stadium for senior day against UAB at 5 p.m. Mt has two games remaining in the regular season with the Blazers at home next week and Charlotte on the road the weekend after.
