NASHVILLE - The Middle Tennessee men's tennis team shut out Illinois State 4-0 in the first day of the Middle Tennessee Shootout at Nashboro Village. With the win, the Blue Raiders improve to 6-11 on the spring.
The Blue Raiders would take the doubles point by winning the two completed matches. Junior Yannick Born and freshman Aaron Jumonville would take No. 2 doubles, 6-4, while juniors Victor Hoang and Ettore Zito captured a 6-3 victory at No. 3 doubles.
Hoang was the first to win his singles match, a 6-2, 6-1 decision at No. 4. Sophomore David Fox took a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 2, while sophomore Victor Cornea won at No. 3, 6-4, 6-4, to close out the victory. The other three singles matches went unfinished.
The Blue Raiders return to action tomorrow with a match against UAB. The match is slated to begin at 2:00 at Buck Bouldin Tennis Center.
