Blue Raiders look to rebound

MT plays host to La Tech Saturday
MURFREESBORO – Middle Tennessee will look to get back on the winning track when it plays host to Louisiana Tech Saturday at 7:05 p.m.
The Blue Raiders (9-5, 3-1) are coming off of their first C-USA loss of the season and will be facing a red-hot Lady Techster squad that has won three straight conference games. Louisiana Tech is 8-7 overall but tied with the Blue Raiders for second in the league standings with a 3-1 mark.
The Lady Techsters are coming off a stirring comeback win at UAB where it overcame an 18-point second-half deficit to secure a 61-55 win.
Louisiana Tech leads the all-time series 4-1, but Middle Tennessee secured its only win in the last meeting when it won a 68-51 decision in Ruston, La., last season. The first ever meeting between the teams came in the 1983 NCAA Tournament when defending champion Louisiana Tech beat the Blue Raiders in a first-round game.
The Blue Raiders are led by sophomore Olivia Jones, who is averaging 20.7 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. Another sophomore, Ty Petty, has also been strong this season and is averaging 9.9 points and 4.4 assists per game. In keeping with the youth movement freshman Abbey Sissom is coming off of her best game at the collegiate level. Sissom poured in a career-high 17 points and nailed five 3-pointers (also a career high).
Middle Tennessee is 76-4 in conference games at home under Head Coach Rick Insell. The Blue Raiders will look to build on that mark and keep themselves near the top of the standings when it faces the Lady Techsters.
