MURFREESBORO – Head coach Jim McGuire announced on Wednesday that Cameron Allison has signed a national letter of intent to join the Middle Tennessee baseball program.
The talented southpaw will come to Middle Tennessee from Pope High School in Marietta, Ga., where he also competed with the Team Elite travel team. Allison is rated as the 46th best player out of the state of Georgia and the 413th best player in the nation by Perfect Game.
As a junior, Allison went 6-2 on the mound with a 2.33 ERA while holding opposing batters to a .186 average and racked up 68 strikeouts in 57 innings of work.
Allison is a two-time Perfect Game All-American and was named to the All-Region 5-6A First Team and All-Cobb County Second team in 2015 while helping Pope High School reach the Georgia 6A State Semifinals.
"Cameron is a great sign on the last day of the early signing period," McGuire stated. "He's a big left-handed pitcher with unbelievable upside who we think has pro potential and has an opportunity to come in and pitch for us right away.
"Coach Hall did a great job identifying Cameron after he de-committed from Auburn and giving us the opportunity to add him to this signing class."
Prior to signing with the Blue Raiders, the 6-foot-4 lefty was previously committed to play for Auburn before re-opening his recruitment just before the early signing period opened on Nov. 11.
Allison joins an early signing class that already includes catcher Aaron Antonini of Hollywood, Fla., infielder Elliott Curtis of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, and pitcher Grant Williams of Hendersonville, Tenn.
