Blue Raiders host Missouri State Thursday at 11 AM

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee will be looking to remain undefeated on Education Day when it plays host to Missouri State at Murphy Center Thursday at 11 a.m.

The Blue Raiders (4-4) have won all three Education Day games since Middle Tennessee Athletics, in conjunction with Murfreesboro City Schools, began hosting the event in 2012. More than 8,000 school children are expected to attend Thursday's game.

The game will feature two programs picked as the preseason favorite to win their respective conference championships, with Middle Tennessee pegged as the favorite in C-USA and Missouri State favored to win the Missouri Valley.

Missouri State (6-4) has won its last four games by a combined 81 points. The teams have one common opponent. Middle Tennessee and Missouri State each defeated Ole Miss, with the Blue Raiders winning, 84-75, in Murfreesboro, while the Lady Bears won, 91-78, in Oxford, Miss.

The game marks the first time the two schools have played in women's basketball, although both programs are rich in tradition. Missouri State is coached by former Lady Vol standout Kellie (Jolly) Harper, who was a prep standout at White County in Sparta, Tenn. In fact, Jolly played AAU basketball for Lady Raider Head Coach Rick Insell prior to joining the Lady Vol program.
