MT Nets Eighth Straight Win

Women's Tennis Improves to 16-3
SAN ANTONIO – Middle Tennessee won its eighth straight match and improved to 16-3 overall with a 5-2 win against UTSA here Sunday.
The Blue Raiders swept the doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead going into the singles matches where they won four of the six matches to continue their strong run under fourth-year Head Coach Shelley Godwin.
Nayara Moraes, Darya Shulzhanok, Jesse Grace and Brittany Huxley each earned wins for the Blue Raiders.
Moraes notched her 80th career win with a 6-3, 6-3 decision against UTSA's Gandara Gonzalez to move to within three singles victories of tying Manon Kruse's all-time mark of 83.
Leading 1-0 after earning the doubles point, MT clinched the match win with three straight singles victories. Grace turned back Alena Shichkova 6-2, 6-3 to put the Blue Raiders on top 2-0.
Huxley followed with a 6-3, 6-1 win against Nicole Karaklis at No. 4 singles to push the lead to 3-0, and Moraes clinched the match with her win.
Shulzhanok also earned victory, taking a 6-1, 7-6 (8-6) decision from Jacobea Junger at No. 2 singles. Tiffany William and Sara Sediri suffered singles setbacks.
Grace and Sediri teamed to capture an 8-3 win in doubles play. Huxley and Moraes were also successful and Shulzhanok and William completed the doubles sweep with their win.
