Second accolade in 2016
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – For the third time in as many weeks, Middle Tennessee was represented when the Conference USA indoor track weekly honors were released. Jacob Patten, for the second time in 2016, has been named C-USA Male Field Athlete of the Week.
Patten, a freshman from Memphis, Tennessee, cleared 2.14 meters (7-0.25) in route to winning the high jump at the Emory Invitational Sunday. Patten set a personal-best with the jump and nearly eclipsed the Middle Tennessee indoor record, which was set in 2005 by Alex Pruitt, who cleared 2.17 meters (7-1.5).
Patten also is tied for first in Conference USA with Keenon Laine from WKU. Laine set his mark at the Vanderbilt Opener Dec. 5.
In the 205-16 NCAA indoor ranks, the Memphis native is tied for 24th with nine others.
Patten and the Blue Raiders continue competition at the Vanderbilt Invitational Jan. 29-30.
