Blue Raiders continue to thrive

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Middle Tennessee Track & Field had a strong outing at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational hosted by Louisville.
Ten Blue Raiders found themselves on the podium at the invitational; Abraham Valenzuela, Wail Bourahli, Ross Evans and Solomon Sayo combined for a second-place finish in the Men's DMR, Privillege Chikara placed first in the Women's 800m and second in the Women's Mile, Chidinma Agu finished second in both the Women's 200m and 400m, Mustapha Bokpin topped the field in the Men's 60m, Joel Iheakolam finished second in the Men's Triple Jump, and Faith Nyathi and Odilia Jepchumba placed first and second in the Women's 5000m.
Four of the Middle Tennessee podium finishers recorded a PR in their respective events. Chikara, Bokpin and Iheakolam each bested their respective events for the second time this indoor season. Chikara's mark of 4:42.90 is the second-best time in Conference USA in the Women's Mile. Bokpin's new 60m time of 6.59 is the best in the conference and 11th in all of NCAA Division 1. Iheakolam's new Triple Jump mark of 15.36m is fourth best in CUSA and Agu's 400m time of 54.48 is the second-best mark in CUSA.
Including Chikara, four Blue Raiders set new personal bests in the Mile. Hailee Gorham, Lauren Cole and Gabe Allen each set new PRs in the event in Louisville.
Over the entire weekend, the Blue Raiders had 14 top five finishes and set 10 new personal bests.

The Blue Raiders will host the Dean Hayes Classic on February 7 in the Murphy Center. The meet will be broadcast on ESPN+ from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
