Surging Blue Raiders face Marshall in C-USA tilt

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee will look to continue its upward trend when it plays host to Marshall in a key C-USA at Murphy Center Thursday. Tipoff is 6:30 p.m.
The Blue Raiders (11-7, 5-2) have won four of their last five and hope to continue their momentum against Marshall (13-5, 3-4) in another key C-USA contest as the league race approaches the halfway point.
Marshall leads C-USA in scoring offense and averages 73.7 points per game. The Herd allows 62.1 points per contest. The high-scoring Herd is led by Leah Scott's 16.3 ppg., while freshman Shayna Gore averages 12.7. Marshall is also one of the league's best shooting teams. The Herd is second in C-USA in field goal percentage with a .428 clip.
Middle Tennessee has been getting strong and consistent contribution from Brea Edwards, Alex Johnson and Ty Petty, while sophomores Gabby Lyon and Abbey Sissom continue to flourish in their new role. In fact, the Blue Raiders are 5-1 with these five players in the starting lineup together.
The Blue Raiders will look to continue their home success under veteran Head Coach Rick Insell. The Blue Raiders are 132-21 at home under Insell for a 86.3 winning percentage. That includes a spectacular 85-6 mark against conference foes at Murphy Center for a 93.4 winning clip. The Blue Raiders are 17-3 at home as a C-USA member.
