Raiders drop fourth straight with loss to LIU Brooklyn

MT loses to Blackbirds to finish UCF Tournament
ORLANDO, FLA. – Middle Tennessee (9-11) falls to LIU Brooklyn (6-14) in their finale of the UCF Tournament Sunday 7-2.
Erynn Sobieski (3-8) kept the Raiders off balance all day as she only allowed two runs on four hits in 7.0 innings of work as she earned her third win of the year.
The Blackbirds got going early as they scored two runs in each of the first two innings. Kylie Mulholland doubled home Angie Vazquez and Victoria Zamora in the bottom of the first and LIU Brooklyn had a 2-0 lead after one.
In the second Alyssa Gospodarek scored on Whitney West's single, and three batters later when Zamora reached on a fielder's choice Karlie Brady crossed the plate and after two innings it was 4-0 Blackbirds.
Middle Tennessee cracked the scoreboard in the third as Kirstyn Cuccia singled home Precious Birdsong and Morgan Harris to cut the lead to 4-2. But the Blackbirds got a run back in the bottom half when Kayla Gloady singled to score Patricia Griffin and the lead was back to three at 5-2 LIU Brooklyn.
In the fifth Gloady was at it again as she singled to center to score Griffin and in the sixth Celinna Cosio earned a base hit that brought home Ashley Sandoval-Colon for the final run of the game and a 7-2 advantage.
Megan Chocallo (1-3) took the loss for MT as she allowed four runs on four hits in 1.1 innings. Pattie Taylor came out of the bullpen and pitched the final 4.2 innings and allowed three runs on nine hits.
The Raiders will travel to Alabama Tuesday to play Alabama State, then play Alabama A&M Wednesday before playing their first home game Saturday against Southern Miss.
