MT riding three-game home win streak
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – After splitting a pair of road matchups last weekend, Middle Tennessee seeks to return to the win column when it hosts FIU Thursday night.
Tip-off against the Panthers is set for 6:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on 89.5 WMOT with Dick Palmer and Duane Hickey calling the action. Fans can also catch a live stream of the game on ESPN3 via the WatchESPN app.
The Blue Raiders (9-7, 4-1) are 25-9 all-time against FIU (4-12, 2-3), including a 13-2 ledger in Murfreesboro. MT has also claimed the previous eight meetings in the series.
In their last outing, a late Lady Raider comeback fell short in a 66-51 setback at WKU. Alex Johnson continued her impressive start to the C-USA schedule, as she moved into second in league scoring with 18.2 points per game. The sophomore has scored double figures in each game this season, and has averaged 20 points a night in conference play.
FIU enters Thursday night's contest winners of two of its last three games. The Panthers opened last weekend with a thrilling 88-87 victory in triple overtime against UTEP before dropping a 70-61 decision against UTSA.
Three Panthers average double-digits in scoring, as sophomore Kristian Hudson paces the offense with 12.8 points per game. Freshman Alexis Gordon and senior Janka Hegedus also provide 10.5 and 10.1 points per night, respectively. Sophomore Kiandre'a Pounds hauls in a team-best 5.5 rebounds per game.
Following Thursday's game, MT remains at home to close the weekend against Florida Atlantic. Saturday's game against the Owls is slated for a 2 p.m. tip and will be broadcast on beIN Sports.
