Lady Raiders seek to keep home momentum rolling

MT caps weekend with UTEP
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – With a successful start to the second half of league play, Middle Tennessee seeks to keep the home-court momentum rolling when it plays host to the UTEP Miners Saturday night.
Tip-off from Murphy Center is set for 7 p.m. Dick Palmer and Duane Hickey have the 89.5 WMOT call, while fans can also catch the action on the ESPN3 broadcast via the WatchESPN app.
Fans are also encouraged to help 'Spread the Love' at Saturday's game. Lee Company, in conjunction with Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee, will be collecting jars of peanut butter as part of the 'Spread the Love' drive. Lee Company staff members will be onsite to collect donations and thank fans with a limited number of rally towels.
The Lady Raiders (13-8, 8-2) hold a 2-1 advantage in the series against UTEP (6-15, 3-6), including a 2-0 mark in Murfreesboro. The Miners claimed the lone matchup from last season, 84-73, in El Paso.
Four Lady Raiders scored in double figures in Thursday night's win against UTSA to keep pace in the C-USA standings.
Alex Johnson led all scorers with 24 points, while Jess Louro pitched in a career-best 17 points behind five three-pointers. Ty Petty and Abbey Sissom added 20 and 16 points, respectively, and combined for eight three-pointers. For the night, the Lady Raiders tallied a season-high 14 triples.
The Miners enter Murfreesboro following a 74-61 setback at UAB Thursday night.
Sparkle Taylor leads UTEP with 17.1 points per game, while Tamara Seda adds a team-best 9.9 boards a night.
Following Saturday's action, Middle Tennessee will travel for its only road trip in February, as the Lady Raiders take on Charlotte and Old Dominion next week.
