MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – In the midst of a three game win streak, the Middle Tennessee soccer team opens conference play this weekend. The Blue Raiders (3-4, 0-0) host the UTSA Roadrunners (1-7, 0-1) on Sunday, September 24 at 2 p.m. inside Dean A. Hayes Stadium.
MT and UTSA have only met twice in program history with the Roadrunners winning both. The two sides played last year in San Antonio, where UTSA won 3-2. Jordyn Lacy scored two goals for the Roadrunners in the contest last season and she returns for this year's matchup.
The Roadrunners enter the match on a seven game skid, losing most recently to LA Tech to open the conference slate. The team's only win was over Abilene Christian back on August 18.
The Roadrunners have scored just five goals on the year, four of which have come from the foot of freshman Ellis Patterson. The squad's other goal scorer is Channing Machen while Sarah Bayhi leads UTSA in assists with two.
Gabriella Maricello and Michelle Cole have split time in goal for the Roadrunners, with Cole picking up the lone UTSA win and leading the duo in saves with 30.
Middle comes into its first conference match of the year, winning its last three games by a combined score of 7-3. Peyton DePriest scored three of those seven goals to push her season total to a team-high five. She also leads the Raiders in points (12), shots (21) and shots on goal (10).
Sam DeBien has scored two goals in the current win streak while Amber Hoot recorded one goal as well, the game winner last Sunday over Evansville. Hoot also assisted on three goals, one in each of the Raiders' three wins this season.
Sydney Chalcraft has played every minute in goal for MT this season, notching 28 saves and a shutout.
The game will be broadcasted on beIN Connect and is available online or in the app when you log in with your TV subscriber.
