Blue Raiders head to Morehead for Comfort Inn-vitational

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee volleyball team travels to Morehead, Ky. to participate in the Comfort Inn-vitational this weekend.
The Blue Raiders will open the tournament on Friday, Sept. 8 against Troy at 1:00 p.m. followed by their second game of the day versus South Carolina State at 4:30 p.m. Middle Tennessee wraps up the weekend at the Comfort Inn-vitational against host Morehead State on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 2:00 p.m.
MT leads the all-time series between Troy (13-4) and South Carolina State (1-0). However, the Eagles of Morehead State maintain a 23-7 edge over the Blue Raiders.
Last time out, Middle Tennessee fell to Chattanooga at their home opener in four sets (22-25, 21-25, 25-17, 15-25). Defensively, Brienna Tankesley led the Blue Raiders recording 16 of the teams 41 digs. Similarly, freshman Josie Maxim notched a career-high six assisted blocks over the Mocs.
Leading Middle Tennessee offensively, junior Regan Coughlin recorded 71 kills hitting on a .188 clip this season. Likewise, sophomore setter Taylor Hammill notched 183 assists on the year, averaging 7.04 assists per set.
Other notable Blue Raiders include redshirt-junior Vonnie Covington who leads the squad with 14 blocks on the season. Comparably, junior Makila York has recorded 38 kills on the year averaging 1.90 kills per set.
Up next, the Blue Raiders continue on the road to Moon, Pa. to compete in the Robert Morris Invitational on Friday, Sept. 15 and Saturday, Sept. 16.
