HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Lady Raiders are set to travel to Huntington, West Virgina for their next Conference USA matchup against the Marshall Thundering Herd in the Cam Henderson Center on Friday.
MT (11-8, 3-3) split its two games last week, grabbing its third conference victory over North Texas before suffering a 61-54 setback to Southern Miss.
Scouting the Thundering Herd (6-12, 0-5)
Marshall has yet to clinch its first conference game of the season, recording five straight losses in C-USA play.
Junior Shayna Gore leads the Herd offense averaging 18.6 points per game. Gore inks a .449 field goal percentage, hitting 118-of-263 baskets from the field. Meanwhile, in Conference USA play, Gore leads the field averaging 20.6 points per game.
The Lady Raiders lead the all-time series over the Thundering Herd 7-0.
Lady Raiders Ranked Eighth in the Nation in 3-point FG Defense
Middle Tennessee moved up in the national ranks in 3-point field goal defense after holding North Texas and Southern Miss to four 3-point baskets apiece last weekend.
Respectively, the Lady Raiders have held 15 of their 19 competitors to five or less 3-pointers. Overall, MT holds competitors to only a .264 3-point field-goal percentage from distance.
Johnson Returns to the Court
Junior Alex Johnson returned to the Murphy Center court on Thursday, Jan. 18 against North Texas after a nine-game hiatus due to injury. The Murfreesboro product inked a combined 25 points last week, including a season-high 17 points over Southern Miss.

After traveling to West Virginia, the Lady Raiders will return to the Murphy Center on Sunday, Jan. 28 to host Charlotte at 2 p.m.
