Lady Raiders Look to Extend Streak to Three over LA Tech

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee women's basketball team looks to extend their winning streak to three as it hosts LA Tech on Thursday, Feb. 1 at 6:30 p.m.
The Lady Raiders moved to 13-8 and 5-3 in Conference USA play with a 64-45 victory over Charlotte on Sunday in the Murphy Center. Meanwhile, the Lady Techsters (13-8) moved to 4-4 in C-USA play after a 64-74 setback to conference leader WKU.
Scouting the Lady Techsters (13-8, 4-4)
Redshirt senior forward Alexus Malone is the fundamental player for the Lady Techsters, leading the team both scoring and rebounding. Malone averages 13.2 points per game while grabbing an average of nine rebounds this season. The forward has made 105-of-207 baskets from the field to ink a .507 field-goal percentage.
As a team, the Lady Techsters remain active on the glass, creating a +4.2 (39.1-34.0) rebounding margin over their opponents this season.
LA Tech has not seen much success on the road during its 2017-18 campaign, recording a .400 winning percentage (2-5) in away games this season. Overall, the Lady Raiders lead the all-time series over the Lady Techsters 6-4, grabbing all six wins in their last six meetings.
Jones Earns Second C-USA Freshman of the Week Accolade
Freshman Anna Jones earned her second freshman of the week accolade this season after contributing a combined 33 points in the Lady Raiders' last two contests.
Respectively, Jones sits third in the conference in C-USA play in 3-point field-goal percentage, hitting 22-of-51 from distance (.431). Likewise, Jones ranks third in conference play in 3-point field goals per game (2.8).
Johnson's Return from Injury
Conference USA Preseason Player of the Year Alex Johnson recorded her best outing of the season over Charlotte since returning from injury. Johnson inked a season-high 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field on Sunday. The Murfreesboro, Tennessee product also picked up a season-high seven rebounds and matched a career-high of three blocks over the 49ers.
In her last three outings, the junior has averaged 14.67 points for the Lady Raiders.

The Lady Raiders will hit the road, traveling to Florida Atlantic and FIU next week. Middle Tennessee plays FAU on Thursday, Feb. 8 at 6 p.m. before rounding off its Florida swing against FIU on Saturday, Feb. 10 at 1 p.m.
