Blue Raiders Host a Pair of Conference Matches this Weekend

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee volleyball team welcomes Conference USA competitors, Rice and WKU to the Alumni Memorial Gym this weekend. The team will face the Owls on Friday at 7:00 p.m. before rounding off the weekend against the Lady Toppers on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
Friday's contest marks the first meeting between the Blue Raiders and the Owls this season while the match on Friday is the second meeting between Middle Tennessee and WKU. The team dropped a three-set contest to the Lady Toppers earlier in their schedule in Bowling Green, Ky.
Last Time Out, Blue Raiders Take Down TSU in Five-Sets
The Blue Raiders enter this weekend's contests after a five-set win over Tennessee State.
Three players earned double-double honors in the contest, each earning a season or career-best statistic. Junior Taylor Hammill inked a season-best 43 assists while contributing 16 digs. Meanwhile, junior Dora Peonia recorded a season-best 15 kills and 11 digs while senior Regan Coughlin added a career-high 20 kills with 13 digs in the five-set win over the Tigers.
Blue Raiders to Watch
Bailey Mason – Senior Mason has paced the Blue Raider offense throughout the season, recording a career-best 163 kills this season. The Forsyth, Ill. product has been an instrumental part of the Blue Raider attack and defense, ranking among the top-performers on the team in each category. Likewise, Mason represents the Blue Raiders on the Conference USA category leaders in three of the seven statistical categories.
Taylor Hammill – Junior Hammill is a key setter for Middle Tennessee, inking 258 helpers this season. Hammill's efforts enabled her to eclipse the 1,000 assists mark this season. Similarly, the junior has been an aid in the team's defense, leading the squad in digs in her last two outings for Middle Tennessee.
