TROY, Ala. – Middle Tennessee State University's women's basketball looks to extend their early winning streak to 5-0 on the road, traveling to Troy, Alabama for a midweek contest.
The Lady Raiders will meet their former Sun Belt opponent in the Trojan Arena on Tuesday, December 4 at 6:00p.m.
Tale of the Tape: Middle Tennessee and Troy
The midweek contest marks the 20th meeting between the two programs with the Lady Raiders leading the all-time series, 18-1.
Scouting Troy
The Troy Trojans boast a 6-1 record on the year, recording their first loss of the season at Florida State (67-103) in their season opening contest. Since the team's first lost, the Trojans have notched six-straight games, including a 116-point victory over Alabama State (116-46) on Thursday, November 29.
Junior forward Amber Rivers leads the team in scoring, collecting 91 points in seven games this season to average 13 points per contest. The Birmingham, Ala. native is 35-of-76 from the field and 11-of-16 from the free throw line.
Meanwhile, senior Sky'lynn Holmes leads the Trojans rebounding efforts. The 6-foot-1 forward averages 8.3 rebounds per contest, grabbing 30 on the offensive end and 28 defensively.
In the Trojans first seven games, the team has created a +17.6 (84.3-66.7) scoring margin and a +7.1 (48.6-41.4) rebounding margin over their opponents this season.
Blue Raiders secure Education Day contest
Last time out, the Blue Raiders hosted Georgia State for the teams annual Education Day contest. The team secured the 69-54 win over the Panthers in a collective team effort.
A'Queen Hayes was MT's leading scorer, hitting 9-of-16 shots for 20 points to go with seven rebounds, four assists and a block. Senior Alex Johnson had 14 points, six rebounds, four assists and two blocks and moved into 14th on the Middle Tennessee all-time scoring list, passing former teammate Ty Petty.
Redshirt junior Jordan Majors rounded out the double-figure scoring with a career-high 12 points, and she added another career high with 14 rebounds to register her first double-double.
