RUSTON, La. – Middle Tennessee prepares for its final road game of the season as they travel to the Thomas Assembly Center for a rematch against Louisiana Tech on Saturday.
The Blue Raiders toppled the Bulldogs, 72-57, in Murphy Center earlier this season behind a double-double from Nick King (22 points, 10 rebounds) and a career day from Brandon Walters who scored 18 points on a perfect 7-of-7 from the field while collecting seven rebounds and three blocks.
Since that game, LA Tech (16-11, 7-7) has strung together a 6-3 record including an impressive home win against UAB on Thursday. The Bulldogs forced 17 Blazer turnovers and freshman forward Anthony Duruji exploded for 21 points, three rebounds, two assists and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Middle Tennessee (21-5, 13-1) is coming off a win against Southern Miss in Hattiesburg where the Blue Raiders held their opponent scoreless for the final 7:15 of game play. Middle Tennessee used that stretch to build a 10 point lead to push them to their 11th true road victory.
The Blue Raiders were led once again by Conference USA Player of the Year candidate Nick King who posted 20 points and 11 rebounds for his ninth double-double of the season. Three other players recorded double figures in the contest as well in senior Giddy Potts (13), junior Antwain Johnson (13) and sophomore Tyrik Dixon (12).
Overall, MT is riding an eight game win streak since their only conference loss to Marshall. Since their trip to Hawaii for the Diamond Head Classic, the Blue Raiders are 13-1 in conference play.
Tip-off against the Bulldogs is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Karl Malone Court. The game can be viewed via stream by Stadium.
