WICHITA, Kan. – Middle Tennessee senior Gian Issa moved his singles record to 11-0 in the dual match season and represented the clinching point in the Blue Raiders' road win over Wichita State.

"This was a strong team win on the road today," MT head coach Jimmy Borendame said. "Miguel and Gonzalo won the dual match for us because they remained resilient after being down early in doubles."

Tom Moonen and Chris Edge notched another win as the No. 48-ranked doubles combo with a 6-3 victory on Saturday to open the scoring against the Shockers. Miguel Negre Fernandez paired with Gonzalo Morell Raschiatore to clinch the doubles point by coming back from down 0-3 to win their match on court two, 7-6.

The Blue Raiders came away with four singles wins, including three in straight sets. Luis Morillo Diaz moved to 2-0 in singles this season after his dominant win at No. 6, and Morell and Issa followed at No. 2 and 5, respectively. Moonen closed out the scoring for MT at the top spot in the lineup, 7-6, 4-6, 13-11. The Shockers won in three sets on court three and added a straight-set win at No. 4.

"Gian Issa also woke up from the nap he took during doubles to be the clincher in singles after I challenged him. I am proud of this team," Borendame added.

Next on the schedule for the Blue Raiders is another home match against a Big Ten opponent, as Wisconsin takes on MT at the Adams Tennis Complex on Feb. 25 at 10 a.m.
