Three matches on tap at the Adams Tennis Complex
Match Notes
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Already with a 3-0 record against Conference USA opponents so far this season, Middle Tennessee's men's tennis team is slated to host three more conference foes in the C-USA Pod this weekend.
The Blue Raiders will begin the weekend against No. 35-ranked Old Dominion (10-6) at 2 p.m. on Friday. The Monarchs are last year's C-USA runners-up, and their visit to the Adams Tennis Complex will be their first since falling to Rice in the conference championship last April. Freshman Aziz Kijametovic leads ODU, and he's ranked No. 83 nationally in singles. ODU also has two nationally ranked doubles teams, and Kijametovic is a member of both of those pairs.
Also nationally ranked in singles is freshman Luca Keist of Charlotte (8-8). The 49ers will be MT's opponent on Saturday at 2 p.m. Keist leads the team in dual match singles wins with an 11-5 record. Charlotte only has a winning record on one singles position, No. 1, which is manned by Keist. In doubles, five pairs have combined for a 7-5 record at the No. 2 spot, which is the only doubles position the 49ers have with a winning record.
Finally, the Blue Raiders will wrap up the weekend with a showdown against Florida Atlantic (12-6) on Sunday at 2 p.m. The doubles combo of Remi Chancerel and Gabriel Sidney is ranked No. 62 in the country, and they boast a 7-3 dual match record, all at the top doubles position. Just like the Blue Raiders, FAU is strong at the bottom of the singles lineup. The Owls are a combined 23-6 at the No. 5 and 6 spots in singles play.
For the match against ODU, free food will be provided by Newk's. On Saturday, there will be hit-to-win prizes given out, and a Kid's Club clinic and autographs is set as Sunday's promotion.
Live stats will be available for all of MT's matches this weekend, and updates and information will be on Twitter, @MT_MensTennis, and Facebook, MTSU Men's Tennis.
