MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – After locking up its second consecutive Conference USA regular season championship on Thursday, Middle Tennessee turns its attention to Senior Day and the Marshall Thundering Herd.
The Blue Raiders and Herd are meeting for the second time this season with Marshall handing MT its only league loss of the year six weeks ago in Huntington by a score of 73-63.
C-USA Player of the Year candidate Nick King tallied 14 points and nine rebounds in that contest despite a sprained ankle suffered in the previous game. Now fully healthy, King and fellow Player of the Year candidate Jon Elmore will square off in the regular season finale as MT looks to avenge its lone C-USA loss of the season.
Elmore leads the league in points per game (22.8) on a high-powered Herd offense (84.7 ppg), but will be challenged by a stout MT defense that ranks in the Top 30 in college basketball at 65.3 points allowed per game.
In its last two games, Middle Tennessee has held high-scoring WKU to 64 points and UAB to just 54.
The Blue Raiders and Herd are set to tip at 6:00 p.m. following Senior Day festivities on the court. The contest will be broadcast and streamed by Stadium.
