Named Third Team All-American and C-USA Newcomer of the Year
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – After being named First Team All-Conference USA on Monday the postseason accolades continue to roll in for Middle Tennessee senior Nick King, who was named a USA Today Third Team All-American Monday evening as well as Conference USA Newcomer of the Year and USBWA All-District IV on Tuesday afternoon.
King's All-American nod is the first in Middle Tennessee men's basketball history and is well-deserved after a season full of accolades for the talented graduate transfer.
A consensus Top 50 recruit out of Memphis East High School, King has resurrected his career in his final collegiate season.
A four-time C-USA Player of the Week, Lute Olson Award Watch List member and Karl Malone Award semifinalist, King ranks second in the league and 23rd nationally in scoring at 21.2 points per game and his 8.4 rebounds per game are in the Top 5 in Conference USA.
King has been terrific from all areas of the floor, shooting 49.4 percent from the field, 38.1 percent from three and 73.7 percent from the free throw line on the season.
The Memphis native is the second Blue Raider in a row to be awarded Newcomer of the Year by the C-USA office, following JaCorey Williams in 2017. Williams also went on to win Player of the Year in his lone season in Murfreesboro.
Conference USA will announce its Player of the Year and Coach of the Year tomorrow in a press conference held at the Ford Center at the Star.
