Blue Raiders Wrap Up Non-Conference Slate at Wofford Invitational

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Blue Raiders travel to Spartanburg, South Carolina for their final non-conference tournament of the season. The team will meet Gardner-Webb and tournament host Wofford for two matches over two days. Due to hurricane Florence, North Carolina A&T has pulled out of the Wofford Invitational.
Middle Tennessee (4-6) will open the tournament versus Big South Conference competitor, Gardner-Webb (4-6) on Friday, Sept. 14 at 4:30 p.m. The team will round off its tournament play, competing against Wofford (5-6) on Saturday afternoon at 11:00 a.m. in the Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium.
This tournament will mark the first meeting between the Blue Raiders and the Runnin' Bulldogs. Meanwhile, this be the second meeting between Middle Tennessee and Wofford with the Blue Raiders leading the all-time series over the Terriers, 1-0.
Blue Raiders Topple Chattanooga in Four Sets
The Blue Raiders knocked down Chattanooga in four frames on Wednesday evening. Freshman Samira Lawson Body inked her second double-double of the season, registering 16 digs and 19 kills for the Blue Raiders.
Likewise, senior Bailey Mason paced the Middle Tennessee offense, notching 13 kills on a .200 clip. Meanwhile, sophomore Josie Maxim inked a career-high nine kills from the middle. Freshman Julia Valdez also registered a career-high eight blocks for the Blue Raiders on Wednesday, helping create a +10.0-blocking margin over the Mocs.
