Raiders Set For UTEP Road Match

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Late game heroics from Peyton DePriest gave Middle Tennessee a 3-2 win in double overtime against preseason Conference USA favorite Rice last Thursday. MT's other game last weekend against North Texas was rained out. After a long break, the Blue Raiders will travel to face UTEP on Sunday, September 30th at 7 p.m. CT. Scouting the Miners
UTEP have found success in their defense and balanced attack. Alyssa Palacios has played every minute in goal so far and has three clean sheets to go along with 54 saves. On the other end of the field, 10 different Miners have goals and all but five of their players have registered shots on goal. As a team, they average just shy of two goals per game (1.83) with Lauren Crenshaw and Vic Bohdan leading the team with five and four goals, respectively. April Pate leads the team in assists with four.
Series history
The series between MT and UTEP is tied, 2-2. Last year, the Blue Raiders won 3-1 in El Paso with goals coming from Taylor Hatch, Sam DeBien, and Peyton DePreist. Crenshaw was the lone Miner to score in the match.
Players to watch
Peyton DePriest – The Preseason C-USA Offensive Player of the Year came up big in the Blue Raiders 3-2 overtime win over Rice. DePriest was involved in all three of MT's scores, including when she scored her second goal of the game came in the 104th minute to win the game for the Blue Raiders. After picking up five points in the win, she now has four goals, two assists and 10 points on the year in just three games for the Blue Raiders. She was named C-USA Co-Offensive Player of the Week last week for her efforts.
Hannah Tillett – The standout freshman hasn't shown any signs of slowing down. She currently sits in the top 10 in the NCAA in goals (9), goals per game (1.00), points (22) and points per game (2.44). With DePriest back from injury, the Blue Raiders now have two of the best scorers in the conference.
Sam DeBien – DeBien has quietly been one of the top offensive players for the Blue Raiders this season. She enters the weekend with three goals and four assists, including finding Peyton DePriest for the equalizer in the last game against Rice.
