MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee women's basketball team opens its conference slate on a Florida swing. The Lady Raiders will open their weekend in Florida, competing against FIU on Thursday evening. Middle Tennessee will round off their trip to the Sunshine State in a contest against Florida Atlantic on Saturday afternoon.
Last Time Out: Blue Raiders Split Weekend in New York
The Lady Raiders won their first contest of the Fordham Holiday Classic over Tennessee-foe, Chattanooga before falling to host Fordham in the championship game last Sunday afternoon.
Senior A'Queen Hayes boasted an impressive weekend for the Lady Raiders, averaging 19.5 points, seven rebounds, four assists and 2.5 steals, claiming All-Tournament honors.
In the process of turning in two solid outings in the Bronx, Hayes also surpassed the 1,000-point milestone of her career with 18 points in the win against Chattanooga.
Hayes was equally impressive in the championship game against host Fordham, with 21 points, seven rebounds and four assists, earning Conference USA player of the week honors.
Scouting FIU, 3-10 (0-0)
The Panthers opened their 2018-19 season, recording five straight-losses before FIU bounced back to record their first win of the season over Florida A&M on Nov. 23. Since recording their first win, FIU has claimed two wins on the season for a 3-10 overall record.
TaMiracle Taylor and Chelsea Guimaraes lead the Panthers offense, inking a combined 20.8 points per game.

Florida Atlantic enters Sunday's contest after opening their conference schedule, versing UAB on Thursday, Jan. 3. Myka Matthews is the Owls leading scorer, knocking down an average of 10.0 points per game.
