Raiders gain three spots Saturday at Cardinal Cup

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A strong second half of day two at the Cardinal Cup saw Middle Tennessee Women's Golf make a move three spots up the leaderboard into a tie for seventh at 22-over par (303-295=598).
The Blue Raiders shot 7-over on Saturday and were a stellar 2-over after the turn to match the fourth best team round of the day and shave eight strokes off their round one total.
"We had a much better day out there today," Head Coach Chris Adams said. "The hole locations today were a little more difficult and we gave a few back on the greens, but overall we looked a lot better."
Junior Sophie Burks led the way in round two with a 2-under par 70 that moved her into sole possession of sixth place and just three strokes off the lead at 1-under par (73-70=143).
Sophomores Catherine Caudill and Madison Smith each turned in improved rounds of 2-over par 74 in the second round at University of Louisville Golf Club and are within a stroke of each other at 8-over par (78-74=152) and 9-over par (79-74=153), respectively.
Sophie put together a great round today followed by Catherine and Madison," Adams added. "We finished strong with several birdies on our back nine and feel good going into tomorrow."
Just ahead of them on the individual leaderboard is junior Caroline Caudill, who after a 1-over par 73 in the opening round shot a 5-over par 77 Saturday to finish the round tied for 24th.
Freshman Molly Bebelaar shot 7-over par in round two while classmate Taylor Edlin, playing as an individual this week, carded an 8-over par round.
The Blue Raiders' begin the final day of the Cardinal Cup with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start.
