Volleyball Falls to WKU, 3-0

MURFREESBORO, Tenn.—The Middle Tennessee volleyball team fell to Western Kentucky in three sets Friday evening by scores of 15-25, 19-25, 14-25. The Blue Raiders fall to 7-13 on the season and 1-5 in the conference, while the Lady Toppers improve to 20-1 overall and 6-0 in the league.
Dora Peonia led the attacks for the Blue Raiders, finishing with eight kills on the match. Taylor Hammill tallied 26 assists in the three sets, and Bri Tankesley led the team in digs with eight total to come within six of the 1,000 career-digs mark.
Set-By-Set
The Lady Toppers scored the first point of the match, but a kill from Kayla Henley tied it up. The scores were tied two more times early on in the set, until WKU broke off at 8-6 and went on an 8-0 run. The Lady Toppers claimed the set 25-15 with back-to-back kills.
WKU took a 3-1 lead in set two, but back-to-back kills from Henley and Peonia tied it up 3-3. The Blue Raiders then took a 4-3 lead after a WKU attacking error. The Lady Toppers took back the lead with another kill and held on to the lead the rest of the set. After going on a 4-0 run, WKU took the set, 25-19.
In the third set, the Lady Toppers took a 5-1 lead to start, but after a WKU ball handling error, the Blue Raiders came within one at 7-6. The Lady Toppers went on a 3-0 run at 14-8, and then continued to lead until claiming the set, 25-14 and the match.

- Dora Peonia has led the team attacks on eight occasions and has recorded nine double-doubles on the season.
- Urte Neimantaite tallied a career-high 19 kills on two occasions, against Tennessee Tech and Marshall. She has one double-double on the season and has led the team attacks on seven occasions.
- Taylor Hammill recorded her 2,000th career-assist against Marshall on October 11. She has also recorded eight double-doubles this season. Hammill is ranked third in the conference for assists per set.
- Hammill has a season-high 52 assists and 18 digs.
- Bri Tankesley is six digs away from the 1,000 digs mark with 994 total. She also recorded a career-high four aces against Alabama A&M and a season-high 26 digs against Marshall. Tankesley co-leads the team in aces with a total 18 on the season.
- Kayla Henley has recorded four double-doubles on the season. She also tallied a career-high 19 digs against Western Illinois.
- Marley Banton has a total 18 aces on the year and an average 0.41 aces per set.
- Mikaela Weidmann leads the team in blocks with 57.0.
