Volleyball Treks to Martin for Midweek Matchup

MURFREESBORO, Tenn.—The Middle Tennessee volleyball team is headed to Martin, Tenn. for a midweek match up against the UT Martin Skyhawks Tuesday evening.

MT fell at home to No. 24 Western Kentucky Friday evening in three sets by scores of 15-25, 19-25, 14-25. The Blue Raiders fell to 7-13 on the season and 1-5 in the conference. Senior Dora Peonia led the offense for the eighth time this season with a total eight kills on the match, and Taylor Hammill dished out a match-high 26 assists. Bri Tankesley is only six digs away from meeting the 1,000 career-digs mark after recording eight digs against WKU.

Scouting the Opponent
The Skyhawks are 7-15 overall on the season and 3-5 in the OVC after falling to Morehead State Saturday evening in three sets.

One player to watch is Ginta Mackeviciute, who leads the team in kills with a total 173 on the season. Logan Wallick also has 150 kills on the season, and leads the team in kills per set with a 2.38 average. Junior Jamie Rys leads the team defense with 216 digs overall and 3.48 digs per set.

Last season, the Blue Raiders fell to the Skyhawks at UT Martin in a nail biter, five set match by scores of 25-20, 18-25, 18-25, 25-22, 13-15. The Skyhawks lead the overall series 16-9.
Team Notes

Dora Peonia has led the team attacks on eight occasions and has recorded nine double-doubles on the season.
Urte Neimantaite tallied a career-high 19 kills on two occasions, against Tennessee Tech and Marshall. She has one double-double on the season and has led the team attacks on seven occasions.
Taylor Hammill recorded her 2,000^th career-assist against Marshall on October 11. She has also recorded eight double-doubles this season. Hammill is ranked third in the conference for assists per set.
Hammill has a season-high 52 assists and 18 digs.
Bri Tankesley is six digs away from the 1,000 digs mark with 994 total. She also recorded a career-high four aces against Alabama A&M and a season-high 26 digs against Marshall. Tankesley co-leads the team in aces with a total 18 on the season.
Kayla Henley has recorded four double-doubles on the season. She also tallied a career-high 19 digs against Western Illinois.
Marley Banton has a total 18 aces on the year and an average 0.41 aces per set.
Mikaela Weidmann leads the team in blocks with 57.0.
