MT Looks to Extend Streak During Homestand

MURFREESBORO, Tenn.—The Middle Tennessee volleyball team continues Conference USA action at home this weekend, taking on the UAB Blazers Friday evening and the LA Tech Lady Techsters Sunday afternoon at the Alumni Memorial Gym.

The Blue Raiders are currently on a three-game winning streak after defeating UT Martin, North Texas and Southern Miss on the road last week. Senior libero Bri Tankesley recorded her 1,000th career-dig against UT Martin on Tuesday, making her the 12th player in program history to have at least 1,000 digs. Dora Peonia finished the match with 21 kills and a career-high .636 hitting percentage.
Friday evening, the Blue Raiders defeated the North Texas Mean Green in a thrilling five-set match. Freshman Amalie Jorgensen was big on the net, finishing with 11 blocks on the match to nearly double her career-high. Urte Neimantaite finished with a team leading 17 kills, and Peonia recorded her tenth double-double with 12 kills and 12 digs. Taylor Hammill dished out 52 assists to tie her season-high, and the team as a whole out blocked the Mean Green 14.0 to 9.0.
Tankesley recorded a season-high 30 digs in the four set match against Southern Miss on Sunday, averaging 7.5 digs per set. She currently ranks eighth in the conference for digs per set with 3.80. Freshman Kayla Henley finished with 12 kills and a match-high .545 hitting percentage, and the Blue Raiders once again out blocked the opponent, 13.0 to 7.0.
Scouting the Opponent
UAB
Outside hitter Emma Mitchell leads the team attacks with 238 total kills on the year, and she is also second on the team in digs with 190 total. Mitchell is ranked 11th in the conference for her 3.17 kills per set. Sophomore defensive specialist Brianna Muller has a team leading 194 digs and 2.62 digs per set. Redshirt sophomore Anna D'Cruz is ranked in the conference for her 1.07 blocks per set. UAB also has three players ranked in the Top 10 in the conference for service aces.
The Blazers lead 18-10 in the overall series between the two teams, and in their last meeting on October 6, the Blue Raiders fell to UAB in four sets.
LA Tech
Senior middle blocker Madeline Davis leads the team in kills with 189 total and an average 2.66 kills per set. Redshirt senior libero Morgan Currie has a total 324 digs on the season and is ranked sixth in the conference for her average 4.38 digs per set. Sophomore setter Abigail Hildenbrand is also ranked in the conference for her average 6.44 assists per set, coming in at number 10. Hildenbrand has a total 467 assists on the year.
The Blue Raiders lead the all-time series 8-2, and in their last meeting on Sept, 23, 2018, LA Tech defeated the Blue Raiders in four sets in Ruston, La.

- Bri Tankesley recorded her 1,000th dig against UT Martin on October 22. She also recorded a career-high four aces against Alabama A&M and a season-high 26 digs against Marshall.

- Amalie Jorgensen nearly doubled her career-high blocks against North Texas, finishing with 11 total on the match.
