Raiders lead series 3-2-0 over the Miners
MURFREESBORO, TN. – The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders (4-6-1, 1-1-1 C-USA) hosts the UTEP Miners (7-2-2, 2-0-0 C-USA) on Sunday in Conference USA action at Dean A. Hayes Soccer Stadium. The first kick is set for 1:05 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
TIE OWLS, FALL at UNT
Not even extra time could help decide the Blue Raiders conference match-up against Rice, as the match ended up in a 2-2 draw. Junior Peyton DePriest and Senior Claire Ramet put away the Raiders two goals of the match early in the first half.
MTSU started off hot by scoring twice during the first 10 minutes of the match. DePriest put away her seventh goal, on the season by turning her defender off the ball and poking it into the net from just six yards out. This puts her at 31 goals all-time, which is fifth best in Blue Raider history.
Making her first start and first goal of her career, MacKenzie Bonham found her chance as she equalized with a goal in the 58th minute off a corner.
It was a big night for Claire Ramet who scored her first career goal for the Blue Raiders, striking a penalty hard into the left side of the goal to give the Blue Raiders a 2-0 advantage.
Rice would bring the deficit within one before halftime after Forward Izzy McBride put away a penalty kick of her own.
Rice would tie up the game quickly into the second half, bringing the game to a 2-2 stalemate.
Middle Tennessee fell at the hands of North Texas Sunday night by a score of 3-0. The Blue Raiders made a strong effort in the final 15 minutes, but the two quick second half goals but the Mean Green held.
As soon as the first half started, UNT sought to catch the Raiders off guard and found Beklee Peters on the top of the box where she found the back of the net. In the 44th minute, UNT increased the lead to 2-0.
The Blue Raiders could not get anything going in the first half, UNT defense didn't allow a MT shot until the second half.
