TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Middle Tennessee women's tennis team wrapped up the fall season at the 2019 Seminole All-Conference Showdown. The Raiders went 5-10 in singles and 3-6 in doubles across the weekend.
"The FSU invite was a good event to end our fall season," said head coach Tayo Bailey-Duvall. "There are teams from all over the country and we had the opportunity to see how we stack up to some quality teams from other regions. We had many close matches that could have gone either way."
Muskan Gupta and Noelle Mauro ended the weekend on a high note as the double partners had two solid victories over Marti/Nait Omar (CLE), 6-2 and Blinouskaya/Mulatero (MSU) 6-3. Mauro also earned a win in singles over Florencia Rossi (UNF) in straight sets 6-1, 6-3.
The Blue Raiders continued their performance throughout the FSU Showdown as senior Lidia Burrows defeated Sean Lodzki of UNF 6-1, 6-0. Freshman Zoe Klapman ended her fall season with a win as she took down Arkansas's Myrna Olaya 5-7, 7-5, 10-3. Senior Marta Peris Herrero defeated Lucia Garrigues-Melendez 6-3, 6-3 in her final fall season match.
"The girls nonethless, fought hard and took away some valuable lessons before spring season," said Bailey-Duvall. "Overall we had a pretty successful fall, allowing our freshmen to understand the college level of tennis and fine tuning our upperclassmen to continue improving upon their college careers."
The Seminole All-Conference Showdown was the final tournament of the fall for the Blue Raiders. They will begin their spring season January 18th in Naples, Fla.
"We have a great schedule lined up for the spring and I know we are all looking forward to next semester."
