Lady Raiders Face Auburn in the First Game of the Gulf Coast Showcase

Murfreesboro, Tenn. - After a scorching 4-1 start to the season, the Middle Tennessee women's basketball team travels to Estero, Fla. to compete in the Gulf Coast Showcase. The Lady Raiders first opponent will be Auburn at 10:00 AM on Friday Nov. 29.

About the Lady Raiders
• MT is no stranger to the Gulf Coast Showcase, having won the inaugural event in 2013 with triumphs against Southeastern Louisiana, Wright State before taking down Mississippi State in the championship.
• Senior Charity Savage is second in Conference USA and 25th nationally in rebounds and averages 11.2 per contest. Savage has grabbed a total of 56 boards this season against teams like ECU, Furman, Tennessee Tech, Tulane, and Kentucky.
• MT has enjoyed a successful history of in-season tournaments under HC Rick Insell, posting a record of 18-7 in 11 different events during his tenure.
About the Gulf Coast Showcase
• The eight-team field includes Arizona State, Auburn, Dayton, Drake, No. 22-ranked Gonzaga, Maine, Middle Tennessee and Purdue. Six of the eight teams won 20-plus games last season and five were in the NCAA Tournament
Scouting the Tigers
• Auburn has started the season on a .500 swing with wins over Wofford and St. Joseph's, but lost to a pair of C-USA teams in Old Dominion and UAB.
• Auburn is 81-33 in non-conference games under HC Terri Williams-Flournoy and has won 21 of its last 25.
• Unique Thompson has four double-doubles through four games this season; she has 24 career double-doubles which ranks seventh in Auburn history.

• MT and Auburn meet for the fifth time and this will mark MT's first game vs. Auburn under Head Coach Rick Insell.
• Auburn leads the all-time series, 4-0. The last meeting between the teams took place 20 years ago, Nov. 23, 1999.
Last Time Out
• Aislynn Hayes was named C-USA Freshman of the week and USBWA National Freshman of the Week for her performances against Tennessee Tech and Furman. The Murfreesboro native recorded a total of 37 points in the two game stretch.
• Charity Savage became the first Lady Raider to record double figure rebounds in the first five games to start a season by collecting 12 in the last game against Furman.
• The Lady Raiders seem to have found a solid starting line-up that features three newcomers and four under classmen in Anastasia Hayes, Taylor Sutton, Aislynn Hayes, Courtney Whitson, and Charity Savage.
