MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The men's basketball season is in full swing now, as Middle Tennessee looks ahead to its first road contest of the season when it takes on Lipscomb on Saturday afternoon.
Game 2: Middle Tennessee (1-0, 0-0 C-USA) at Lipscomb (1-0, 0-0 ASUN)
» Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019 – 3 p.m. CST
» Allen Arena (5,028) – Nashville, Tenn.
About the Blue Raiders
» Middle Tennessee scored 76 second half points en route to a 119-61 victory over Maryville on Tuesday.
» The Blue Raiders' point total was the fifth most points scored in a game by an MT team all-time.
» Antonio Green led all scorers with 30 points — one shy of tying his career high — due in large part to 6-10 from 3-point range and 8-8 at the free throw line.
» Jo'Vontae Millner started his Blue Raider career with a double-double. His 13 rebounds were the most in a career debut by a Blue Raider since all-time rebounds leader Warren Kidd brought down 21 boards in his career opener (1990).
» C.J. Jones had 10 field goals made, including several crowd-energizing dunks, on his way to 21 points in his MT debut.
Scouting the Bisons
» Head Coach Lennie Acuff led Lipscomb to a 104-55 win over Rhodes College in his first game as the new leader of the Bisons.
» Nine Bisons scored eight points or more in the win.
» Lipscomb used the season opener to gain experience for all players, as 13 different players were on the court for 10 minutes or more.
» Freshman guard KJ Johnson led his new team in points with 14 in his career debut.
» An ASUN All-Freshman team selection last season, center Ahsan Asadullah recorded a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards.
All-Time vs. Lipscomb
» Saturday's contest with Lipscomb will be the 53rd all-time meeting between the two programs. MT leads the all-time series, 32-20.
» The Blue Raiders had previously won five consecutive games against Lipscomb before dropping an 84-74 decision at Murphy Center last year.
» Saturday will mark the first time since 1961 that the Blue Raiders visited Lipscomb for a game. The Bisons won that game in overtime by a score of 68-66.
» Although the two teams have played only twice in the last 13 seasons, the MT-Lipscomb matchup is the 10th most-played rivalry the Blue Raiders participate in.
Last Time Out
» MT struggled out of the gate but recovered for a 43-37 lead going into halftime against Maryville.
» The Blue Raiders scored 76 points in the second half to pull away from the Scots, 119-61.
