Blue Raiders fall to UTEP, 3-1

EL PASO, Texas—The Middle Tennessee volleyball team fell UTEP in four sets Friday evening by scores of 22-25, 16-25, 25-15, 15-25. The Blue Raiders falls to 12-14 overall and 5-6 in the conference, while the Miners improve to 12-12 on the year and 5-6 in the league.
Dora Peonia led the attacks with 14 total kills, and tallied 10 digs to record her 13th double-double on the season. Taylor Hammill finished with 30 assists in the four sets and Bri Tankesley tallied 12 digs on the match.
Set-By-Set
UTEP got to a 2-0 lead in set one before MT tied it up 2-2 with a Peonia kill. The Blue Raiders took a 4-3 lead with a service ace from Mikaela Weidmann, but the score remained close. The Miners took back the lead at 12-11 when they went on a 3-0 run. MT tied it up once again at 18-18 and again at 19-19, but the Miners went on a 3-0 run to take a 22-20 lead. UTEP claimed the set 25-22 with a kill.
The Blue Raiders scored the first point of set two off a Miners attacking error. UTEP responded right back with back-to-back kills to take a 2-1 lead. MT took back a 6-4 lead with two Peonia kills, but the Miners tied it up again and eventually stole the lead. At 13-12, UTEP went on a 5-0 run to take a bigger 18-12 lead, and took the set 25-16 with a kill.
After the Miners got to a 3-0 lead in set three, the Blue Raiders came back and took a 9-8 lead with a kill from Urte Neimantaite. They then went on a 4-0 run at 9-9 to take a bigger 13-9 lead, and continued to lead the rest of the set. MT claimed set three 25-15 with a Neimantaite kill.
The Miners took the first lead again in set four, 2-0, but the Blue Raiders were able to tie it up at 6-6. MT had its first lead of the set at 13-12 off a UTEP attacking error, but the Miners quickly took it back. At 20-15, UTEP went on a 5-0 run to claim the set 25-15 and the match.

- Dora Peonia has led the team attacks on 12 occasions and has recorded 13 double-doubles on the season. She also recorded a career-high 23 kills against Marshall, and a career-high .636 hitting percentage against UT Martin.
- Urte Neimantaite tallied a career-high 19 kills on two occasions, against Tennessee Tech and Marshall. She has one double-double on the season and has led the team attacks on nine occasions.
- Neimantaite is ranked 10th in the conference for her average 3.23 kills per set.
- Taylor Hammill recorded her 2,000th career-assist against Marshall on October 11. She has also recorded 12 double-doubles this season. Hammill is ranked third in the conference for her 10.08 assists per set.
- Hammill recorded a season-high 52 assists on two occasions and a season-high 18 digs.
- Bri Tankesley recorded her 1,000th dig against UT Martin on October 22. She also recorded a career-high four aces against Alabama A&M and a season-high 26 digs against Marshall.
- Tankesley is also ranked eighth in the conference for her average 3.72 digs per set, and is tied for second on the team in service aces with 21 total.
- Amalie Jorgensen nearly doubled her career-high blocks against North Texas, finishing with 11 total on the match.
- Kayla Henley has recorded four double-doubles on the season. She also tallied a career-high 19 digs against Western Illinois.
- Marley Banton leads the team in service aces with 22 total on the year.
- Mikaela Weidmann leads the team in blocks with 88.0 total, and is tied for second on the team in service aces with 21.
