Men's Tennis Complete the Weekend Sweep

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Blue Raiders sweep Sunday's doubleheader over North Florida and Tennessee State to complete the weekend sweep at Adams Tennis Complex to improve their record to 8-6.

Middle Tennessee has won eight-straight doubles points in as many matches, the Raiders are 8-2 when taking doubles point.

After the team of Tom Moonen and Chris Edge was the first ones off the courts with a dominant 6-2 win, it all came down to the duo of Pavel Motl and Gonzalo Morell. MT took an early 4-1 lead, but the Ospreys battled back taking the lead. The Raider pair broke twice to win the tiebreaker, claiming doubles point.

With the doubles point locked up, the Blue Raiders quickly registered three straight singles wins in quick sets thanks to Edge, Motl and Max Rauch to clinch the Blue Raider win.
Rauch's match would be the clincher after being down in the first set 4-0, he responded strong taking the set 7-5 and breezed through the second set earning him the win, 6-3. Morell also had a thriller of a match as his went to a third set tiebreaker, the Blue Raider finished strong winning 7-5, 2-6, 10-7.

Middle Tennessee dominated from the get-go, proceeding to sweep the Tigers for the 24th-straight time in the nightcap of the doubleheader.

The Blue Raiders quickly grabbed the first point of the match by claiming doubles wins on courts one and three, with top doubles partners Tom Moonen and Chris Edge earning a decisive 6-1 win. Gonzalo Morell and Pavel Motl clinched the MT point with a 6-1 winner.

In singles play, the Tigers were only able to claim 12 total games as the Blue Raiders easily outpaced Tennessee State to six quick matches.
