MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee women's basketball team head to Charlotte and Old Dominion this weekend to continue its Conference USA play.
The Blue Raiders earned their 8th Conference USA win of the season on Saturday evening, holding off C-USA preseason poll favorite UAB for a 60-44 victory.
Scouting Charlotte (12-10, 4-6)
Middle Tennessee and Charlotte meet for the seventh time this weekend as the Blue Raiders leads the all-time series over the 49ers, 6-0.
Charlotte was picked fifth in the C-USA preseason poll. The 49ers have been proficient at home this season, with a 10-1 overall mark, including a 4-0 record against C-USA competition. Charlotte's balanced scoring attack is led by Mariah Linney with 11.8 points per game.
The 49ers are 58th nationally in 3-point field goal percentage and 4th overall in conference play.
Scouting Old Dominion (16-6, 7-3)
The Lady Raiders lead the all-time series over Old Dominion, 6-2.
The Monarchs hold a perfect 4-0 record at home in Conference USA play and an 8-1 record against all opponents this season. Victoria Morris leads the ODU offense, inking 274 points this season followed by Taylor Edwards with 245 points.
Middle Tennessee Top 10 Nationally in Scoring Defense
The Lady Raiders lead the conference and is eighth nationally in scoring defense, allowing just 54.2 points per game. Middle Tennessee has held 15 of 22 opponents to less than 60 points this season and are 14-1 in those games with the only setback to Belmont.
Middle Tennessee has held nine opponents to below 50 points, with the program record for opponents under 50 points is 11, set in 2017-18.
Hayes Dominating the Court
The Middle Tennessee guard, A'Queen Hayes is one of the most dominant guard in conference play. The 5-foot-8 guard has recorded six double-double this season with five coming from contests against conference foes.
In conference play, Hayes averages 16.2 points per games and 9.8 rebounds per game.
